Speech Update

Toby’s independent speech is mainly exclamations or instructions e.g. oh no; over there; stop that; sit down. Anything else tends to have to be prompted. This morning Toby came into my bedroom and totally spontaneously said ‘Good morning Mummy’! It still wasn’t clear but it’s the clearest I’ve ever heard him talk, with ‘m’’s for mummy - up to now I’ve been ‘Bubby’. I’m delighted because it’s one of the signs that the SLT we have done this year is really working. Only a few months ago you couldn’t tell he was saying ‘Good morning’ at all. It was just a sludgy noise. Originally Published 15.12.2021
