Looping with Omnipod and Dexcom G6

Today was a big day for Rosie.

She has been on an insulin DIY automated Loop system for almost a year. It has transformed diabetes for us, from it being central in our lives to taking a back seat. I rarely worry about her being hypo any more because Loop catches her really nicely and suspends the insulin. It's easy to use, and Rosie much prefers it to the old way of working. It's not perfect though and we still have issues with stubborn hypers which will not come down. I don't have the time to obsess over getting Loop 100% right, but I have wanted to try a microbolus system for a while to see if it would help. I have been watching others trying it out first because it is relatively new, and I wanted a time period to see if there were any issues. But there doesn't seem to have been for a while.

I also needed an Apple Mac to do the build, but I didn't have one. It's vital to have one in case of a urgent update. However, after a lengthy wait, we got were grateful to get funding approved for half of the cost from the Family Fund, so within 24 hours of the laptop arriving I was building the new system.
